Ruperti quarter (Rupertiwinkel)
Travel with us across the open border to the present Bavarian Rupertiquarter. This former domain of the Salzburg Arch-Monastery offers numerous artistic and regional discoveries. Laufen, formerly the 2nd largest town in the bishopric, and once the most important salt trade centre, has the very first hall church in the Southern German area. Here in Laufen you can admire the architecture of the merchant houses typical of all towns along the river Salzach. In Tittmoning the castle was built as a fortification against the Bavarians. Today it serves as a wonderful Museum of the Rupertiquarter. We’ll pass through numerous villages, such as Fridolfing, St. Koloman in Tengling, Waging am See, St. Leonhard am Wonnehberg, Abtsdorf, Steinbrünning, Höglwörth, Johanneshögl etc. where there are many treasures just waiting to be discovered by you!
